Visa Credit Cards

Delta County Federal Credit Union offers its adult members the opportunity to carry a low cost Visa-branded credit card. We offer two programs. Our basic program offers an “unsecured” credit card, but we also offer a “secured” credit card.

Secured Visa credit cards differ from unsecured credit cards in that the member is essentially borrowing money against their funds on deposit with the Credit Union. The Credit Union puts a “hold” on those funds equal to the credit limit requested. Since this arrangement does away with risk to the credit union, we do not need to run a credit report and, consequently, we waive the application fee. This is a good option for the member who needs to build a credit history.

Here are a few of the details of our Visa Credit Card…

  • $15 application fee (unsecured cards only).
  • No annual fee.
  • 14.25% Annual Percentage Rate (APR).
  • Card limits of between $250 - $3,000, depending on credit worthiness.

In order to apply for a card, simply visit with one of our lending staff and complete the card application. Our lending staff will run a credit report and consider other relevant factors in determining your credit worthiness. Once a determination is made, a credit limit will be assigned and a card ordered. Your card should arrive within 7-10 business days of the order date. Those under the age of 21 may obtain a card, but only in cases where the account is joint with an adult 21 or older.

The Credit Union is now issuing all credit cards with EMV chips - such cards are also referred to as Smart Cards. Smart Cards help reduce the incidence of card fraud related to counterfeit cards.  If you have a card issued prior to 2017 without an EMV chip, your replacement card will be issued with a chip upon expiration.  Those planning a trip abroad, and not yet carrying a chip-based card would be advised to ask for a card replacement incorporating that technology to help reduce the possibility of acceptance barriers in certain foreign countries – most of which have already transitioned to chip technology.

To report a Visa Credit Card lost or stolen, please contact the credit union or call: 1-800-991-4961.
